While I’m thinking about gadgetry, I have to post a link to the coolest point-and-shoot camera I have ever seen: the Canon PowerShot SD900.

A girlfriend of mine just bought one and took it to the wedding of one of our high school classmates the weekend before last. It does a lovely job of discerning faces, adjusting light, and I was stupidly impressed by the fact that it turns your “play” mode veritcal or horizontal based on the direction you’re holding the camera. Did I mention it’s 10 megapixels, which means you can crop crop crop to your heart’s content? I have serious camera envy.

That being said, I just bought a new battery for my little 3.2MP elph. The old one has gone AWOL, but the $40 battery was a lot less than the $475 object of my latest desires …
