Yesterday was a nice day. I went to the gym for the first time in over two weeks. In spite of the knee I tweaked this weekend, I was able to get a good workout in, and am feeling much more alert and energetic today. It is amazing how not going affects me. I could actually feel my body starting to shut down, and I was getting lethargic and tired and had no appetitite. It occurred to me that at that point it becomes a slippery slope, because you’re so blown that it’s hard to work up the energy to go again. Dangerous stuff.
I got a cool teabag quote with my morning cuppa yesterday as well:
All human actions have one or more of these seven causes: chance, nature, compulsion, habit, reason, passion, and desire.
~ Aristotle (382 BC - 322 BC)
Good food for thought if you like to write stories.
After I got back from the gym and Steve got back from auditions, we went down to Fado to hear The Tea Merchants play. It was a beautiful night so we sat out on the patio. I really enjoy The Tea Merchants — it is traditional Irish dance music, which never fails to make me happy. It brings back memories of brightly-lit pubs and ceilidhs in Galway. So I bounced around in my chair in the pretty evening air and ate corned beef and cabbage (which I’d never tried before). It was a lot of fun! Anyway, they play every Tuesday at 9, and I recommend it.
It all made for a very lovely evening.
