About

I clap for faeries.

Sometimes My sorority is part of things that I am really proud of. The Girl Scouts is one of them, and this is now another. Since I rarely say much of anything about my sorority, I thought I’d share. I got this email today …

Kappa Delta Sorority Joins Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty!

You’ve probably heard lots of buzz about the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty that features a group of real women with real curves dressed in their underwear. In 2004, Dove launched its Campaign for Real Beauty to challenge beauty stereotypes and spark discussion about beauty. Now, Dove is gearing up for the latest phase of the campaign directed at the next generation of women, helping to educate young girls, pre-teens and teenagers about the issues surrounding beauty, body image and self-esteem. The slogan is: Be yourself. Be beautiful.

Kappa Delta Sorority is proud to announce that it has joined forces with Dove, the global beauty brand, through its Campaign for Real Beauty to help raise self-esteem in girls. A recent press release sent out by Dove mentions that “self-esteem programming…will be brought to life in…college campus communities by the national Kappa Delta Sorority.” Click Here to read the complete Dove press release.

“When we learned about the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty, we felt that the issue of self-esteem needed to be addressed by college women,” said Melanie Schild, Kappa Delta’s Executive Director. “Given the sorority’s work with Girl Scouts and other girls in the community through Prevent Child Abuse America, Kappa Delta members have the unique position to reach countless girls with this message.”

The Campaign for Real Beauty is a global effort intended to serve as a starting point for societal change and act as a catalyst for widening the definition and discussion of beauty. Girls and women of all ages benefit from the campaign as we explore what it is to be beautiful with our friends, coworkers, mothers and daughters. Let’s join together to make a difference!

Dove will launch this new phase of the campaign during the Super Bowl. In the midst of advertisements for soft drinks and beer, insurance companies and snack chips, women and young girls will find a special message during Super Bowl XL on Sunday, February 5. Watch the Super Bowl and be among the first to see the Dove Self-Esteem ad, a heart-tugging 45-second spot that celebrates each girl’s unique beauty.

Make sure to tell all your friends and family at your Super Bowl gathering that YOUR sorority is now working with Dove to educate young girls about self-esteem.

Kappa Delta looks forward to working with Dove to make an impact on girls across the country. Click Here for more information on the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty. Look for more information coming from Kappa Delta on how you can get involved. If you have comments or questions, contact <snipped>.
