About

Lack of planning on your part doesn’t consitute an emergency on my part.

Tonight is the first time in over a month that I’ve had a few minutes to rub together and post. A sad thing, too, because there has been so much going on!

Beth and Alex are now married. It was a beautiful wedding out at Red Corral Ranch in Wimberly. I was charged with decorating the archway where the ceremony took place. The natural flowers didn’t stand up well in the heat and the graceful droop I was going for looked more like a swamp by the time they actually got there, but I don’t think either of them noticed. They are honeymooning in Japan, where Beth used to live, and as a nod to their ties to the culture they had their friends and family make one thousand paper cranes for the wedding. they were affixed to the programs, and hanging on strings from the ceiling of the reception hall, where they were keeping company with beautiful paper parasols that softened the lighting from above. It was gorgeous.

Also went to my beloved Karrit’s wedding in Houston. It too was beautiful. I’m pleased to see her so happy - she is an amazing person.

Mirage has gone pretty well this semester. I had my last show last Thursday - the group has one more to go, but I won’t be there due to wifey duties - gotta attend at least ONE of Steve’s concerts this fall. And that’s my last chance. So.

I’ve already been thinking about next years new years resolution, as the one this year was such fun and so successful. I’ve been talking to my friend Scott about training for the Ride for the Roses next October - we’re aiming to do the 70 or 100 mile bike ride by then. Not sure I want that to be my resolution, but it will be a great challenge, I think. Ideas are welcome, although I make no promises. :)

Hmmm, what else? I’m in the middle of taking a Beginning Flash class at ACC. I find it to be very … unintuitive, and I’m not sure why. Not that difficult, just … training my brain to think in that way will take a little work. I am still awed by my artistic friends who can pick it up in a weekend. Not me. DEFINITELY not me.

So GoF opens next weekend. I need to find a time to go! I’m really looking forward to it, as usual. I am getting the itch to re-read the books … I should do that sometime soon. Another new director this time around … and the first Brit to boot. I’m anxious to see what he comes up with!

Did you know (speaking of books) that November is NaNoWriMo? My boss up at work is participating. 1600 words a day … WOW. She encouraged me to jump on the wagon, but … well, I didn’t. I’m sure you’re shocked. But it’s one more thing for my crazy schedule. And I just don’t know if I have that many words in me! Worth considering for next year, though. When things calm down. HA.

I’m reallly starting to look forward to my trip to London. Two whole weeks. The weather will be … well … ass-like, for lack of a better word … but I’m jazzed nonetheless. We just bought tickets to a football (soccer) match while we’re there. The pitch is walking distance from our flat in Kensington. Steve is sooo excited! And so am I. Apparently they sing all kinds of crazy songs rather than do chants. And I swear every one of them drops the f-bomb. It’s hilarous. Dad has booked a TON of theater, and I’m planning to do a pub crawl and some other things to boot. Can’t. Wait.
