About

Lack of planning on your part doesn’t consitute an emergency on my part.

As usual, I’ve been remiss. The aforementioned Mirage show was survivable. No one threw anything at me, so I’ll go with that as a success. Melissa Amira was our headliner that evening, and she in passing told me to let her know when I could dance at Carousel (what I consider to be the premiere dance venue in Austin), which was positively surreal - only REAL dancers dance at the Carousel Caravan. I have yet to respond.

I started a new job today, and the first day went really well. Not much in the way of actual WORK, but I really like the vibe. It’s busy, very busy, but folks take it in stride - that kind of stress is so much easier to handle than when people freak out and run around like the proverbial headless chickens. Anyway. I’m nervous, but more in an anticipatory way than a dread version.

Sunday was my daddy’s birthday. Steve and I went to the Pecan Street Festival on Saturday, and before the oppressive heat sent us back in doors, we got dad a beautiful crystal sun catcher. The fest wasn’t as cool as I remembered from last time … maybe that’s because there wasn’t a henna artist to be found …
