I had a cool moment at the gym last night. After a cycle class of nothing but sprints (I HATE sprints), my instructor cornered me while I fought with raising handlebars that didn’t want to be raised and asked me if I’d thought about doing the upcoming Instructor Search. She told me that she thinks I could totally teach cycle, and that I go to so many of the other classes so frequently that I probably know more formats than I think I do. I was really flattered! I tried to point out that she completely kicks my butt twice a week, and that I am gasping for air so much that there’s no way I could do the same thing on a microphone. But she countered that there’s an adrenaline kick that you get from being in front of the room that makes it easier, and that you find reserves of energy that you didn’t know you had. Sounds a lot like being on stage to me, so I guess I can buy that.
Anyway, according to her, the schedules are very flexible and they don’t give you a ton of classes - a fun part-time gig. While I am not sure I have time to take on one more thing, it was an awesome confidence booster to have her say that I should, and I might do the workshop just to see what it’s all about. If nothing else, it will be a good workout.
Kinda gives me warm fuzzy affirmation for what I’ve managed to accomplish in the last year, you know?
