About

I think I was a matryoshka doll in a previous life.

So last night was the first night of the new “Lance approved” spin programs at my gym. He purchased the Hancock Center location, and I think also the Lake Creek location up north. Anyway, it’s kinda cool, because he’s taking a lot of interest in the cycling classes that are offered. The instructors all had a big training weekend last weekend, and they got a lot of feedback and stuff that he wants to see changed about our programs. The result seems to be that we’ll be doing more “roadie” endurance rides and fewer drill-oriented sessions that focus on stuff like sprints and jumps. And my instructor spent a lot of time last night explaining how to use our breathing patters to determine our aerobic level over the course of the class. I really dug it, and as I hate sprints with a passion, I was happy about that, too. I’m sore today, though. Overall a good thing.

On a related note, the Hancock Center location is doing a HUGE event on Thursday (May 19) to benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation. They’ll be getting 300 bikes in, and for every hour of that a bike has a person on it, they’ll donate $24 to the Foundation for that bike. That’s how I understand it. You don’t have to be a member to participate, so if you are interested in riding, come on out! Just call the club for details. I’m going to try to go by after work.
