This week had to mark the trippiest, most fabulous Monday EVER. It started like pretty much any Monday, that is to say, grumpily - Steve had the day off, and I had to get my rear out of bed and go to work. I had managed to crunch my right hamstring on Sunday doing a perfunctory set of lunges, so that had me grumpy as well. At least I was running on time for once.
I got to the office and started my daily routine. Called Steve to get some clarification on a note he’d left for me in the car, and settled in to editing landing pages for advertising campaigns. Fa la la. Then I got a phone call from Steve. Sounding totally bewildered, he asked me if Iwas expecting anything from Federal Express. I wasn’t. He told me there was a giant box there for me. Worried that they had the wrong Me, he asked me if it was okay to open it. I told him to go ahead. When he did, there was a shiny white and beautifully simplistic, happy-smiley apple box looking up at him. An iBook box, to get more specific. I was completely floored. And slow realization dawned. I had posted my yen and my internet shopping about iBooks on my blog. And my dad reads my blog. And my dad is a gadgethead. And he’s probably the most wonderful dad in the universe without really trying.
So I’m writing this post on my brand new scrumptious 12” iBook. Sweetly fulfilled technolust. It is so exciting! I feel so … mobile. I can’t quite believe I’m back on a Mac after so much time, but I’m looking forward to refamiliarizing myself with the interface. Not that my PC is going anywhere - deciding on the iBook over the outrageously priced PowerBook means that I’ll keep doing my heavy-duty dev work on the desktop at home.
But this is gonna be a BLAST. Wooooo!
But the Monday didn’t stop there. (Sorry, I got all digressed for a minute.) I gleefully told Steve to bring the computer to the game that night, since I knew I would DIE if I had to wait until 11 pm to play with it. Then I went back to my day. Had lunch with mom. Came back. About 3:00, Igot another phone call from home. This time Steve was almost laughing out loud as he informed me that the UPS guy had just shown up. With my birthday present from Steve’s parents - a gorgeous 4-quart chafing dish that I had been wanting for quite some time. I laughed and laughed and laughed. And, naturally ordered that he bring that one to the game tonight too. How cool is that? Two totally unexpected massive and awesome presents in one day! Wow!
So then I got to go to the game and goof off with my good friends, drink beer, and play with my new computer until almost 1:00 am. Sometimes, life is just GOOD, ya know? Well, more often than not. And that is something to be incredibly thankful for.
That is sooo great! Those kind of days can keep you going for a quite a while. Hope you are enjoying your iBook - new computers are fun! :-p
