Happy November! As expected, we now enter the phase of political limbo.
[update, 11:30 am: Looks like we're done with political limbo. Now comes political malcontent.]
Halloween was lots of fun. Many parties. My Trinity costume really came off well, and for once, it was easy on me (go WB standard-issue vinyl coat). I got to slave on Steve’s instead, but his Ceasar with all the knives sticking out of him was the hit of the evening, so I felt good about it.
The cold snap has started getting me excited about my annual holiday cocktail party, and I’ve been doing lots of thinking. I have a yen for the Williams-Sonoma Hot Toddies book, which has some nummy-looking traditional recipes, along with some fun seasonal cocktails that I am considering making the “centerpiece” offerings of the party - champagne and cranberry cocktails, chocolate mint martinis, and the like. I guess I could hit Steve up for it for Christmas, but I’d love to have it for the party.
I have already given in to temptation and purchased their Hors d’Oeuvres book, which has some incredible-sounding stuff. Granted, mine never LOOK that pretty, but still. I’m having a hard time picking just six things, but I think that’s a good number of appetizers if I supplement with some of the easier to make dips and some antipasti. I love cocktail parties. They are the perfect venue for seeing both good friends and casual acquaintances. The combo of a buffet of pretty things and strong alcohol makes for good conversation, too. ![]()
Does anyone know a good place to buy cheap(er) martini pitchers? They’re surprisingly expensive everywhere I can find them …. in the $25 range. Sur La Table has one for $20, but that’s the best I can do.
The best place to buy cheap drink equipment , such as Martini stuff, is World Market. It seems nice to me. Good luck sis!!!
