Lack of planning on your part doesn't consitute an emergency on my part.

*this* is matrimonial bliss?

It costs upwards of $181.00 to legally change your name! Good grief. I think I’ll just keep mine for a while until I pay off the coffee table.

Kat – I’m not a texas resident, but when I got married the only thing I needed to change my name on my Drivers license, social security card, bank accounts, student loan accounts, and investment accounts was the marriage license.
The only cost I paid was the 20 bucks to get a new Drivers License.

Have you considered doing a name change afidavit instead? That is just as legal and is super cheap.

I hope I’m not too late in sharing! All I needed to change my name on all my legal documents was the marriage license. As far as the federal (social security), state government (dps), and finacial institutions (banks, credit cards, etc.) are concerned, I’m officially Jennifer Riha…and I certainly didn’t pay $181 to get any of that done!
